Welcome to September! I hope all our USA-based pilots had an enjoyable Labor Day holiday. Summer is now in the rear view mirror and fall is quickly approaching.
August was a busy month at the VA, you all flew over 8000 hours on 2355 flights. So far this year we are trending to hit 100,000 flying hours as long as we keep up the pace. Last year was our best year ever, as we flew 105,000 hours, and a lot of that had to due with the release of the PMDG 747. There were a lot of long haul PIREPs submitted after that bird was released. This year we are seeing a lot more "short hop" PIREPs in just the first few months of the Aerosoft CRJ being released. We have so many options, so keep up the great flying everyone, and lets hit 100,000 hours this year!!!
Due to the recent weather in Texas, we have decided there will be no roster cuts in the month of August. Hopefully no one was impacted by hurricane Harvey, will not be affected by upcoming hurricane Irma out in the Atlantic. If you did not get a flight in during August, you have all of September to do so. If you need a LOA, please request one on the main site.
Operations have been smooth over the summer, and we have recently filled some of the open staff positions at hub and VP levels. Be on the lookout for those announcements.
Finally, don't forget about VATSTAR training if you want to up brush up on your skills!
See you in the skies!
All NOTAM's from staff will go here. Please check back often
