August is in the Books

Post by UAL024 Eric Elia » September 2nd, 2019, 9:36 am

August came to a close with the US based pilots enjoying a 3-day holiday weekend. For us "older" pilots this has always signaled the end of summer.

As a hub we flew 646 hours last month from a combined 192 flights. Our hours and flights are down as compared to past years but Dulles currently has only 38 pilots and 32 of them were active last month. These were still good numbers.

Mengome Armand (97.1 hrs) and Chris Pinto (74.6) were our top fliers followed by Frank Johnson and Paul Zemczak each with over 50+ hours.

As mentioned previously, Our VP of Events continues to roll our new awards as well as offering up online group flights. He's just added the 787 tour which is a long haul flier's dream. You'll definitely build some hours and pay with this tour. I'd like to ask you to consider joining our next "Saturday Nite Fly" on September 14th (KMIA-MKJS). It's a live event/group flight and the more VUAL pilots that participate the more fun it will be, especially if you log into teamspeak for the duration. Please check out the events page in the forums for all the listings, there is an event or tour for everyone.

Last month FS Dreamteam unveiled their new Chicago O'Hare (KORD) scenery and now correctly depicts the current airport configuration. For those that own an earlier version, FSDT is offering an upgrade discount. It seems like many of the vendors now are bringing new and upgraded sceneries to market and going into Thanksgiving and Christmas, we should see the usual seasonal discounts made available.

We just held our staff meeting to discuss the future direction of the VA. We welcome your input with any ideas for things you'd like to see us incorporate into the VA. The state of the VA is very healthy and we are looking at ways to increase group participation, and make flying with us even more enjoyable. Please, if you have any thoughts or comments, please email them to us or come visit in teamspeak and let us know what is on your mind.

Thank you all for flying this month, I know with real world commitments sometimes it can be tough get a couple of uninterupted hours to go "play" on the computer. For our US based pilots, enjoy the rest of your holiday, and for all of our other pilots, enjoy your Monday.
