San Francisco Scenery - FSX/P3D

Post by UAL044 Kevin Finch » June 16th, 2018, 6:25 am

FSX came out c. 2006 and many of the P3D stock airports are based on FSX data. A lot has changed in 12 years, the earth changes, runways are added/closed and/or re-numbered. ... a-scenery/
These are the sceneries - freeware and payware - recommended by VATSIM's Oakland ARTCC. It's always a good thing when we're working with the same/preferred scenery as the folks behind the scopes. The page has recommendations for FS9, FSX and X-Plane.

Some of the files on that list have been updated by the developers, especially in the case of payware. FlightBeam has a P3DV4 KSFO. FlyTampa does not. On the freeware front, look for updates from Robert Catherall before you install a Ray Smith file into P3DV4.

Another important airport that has undergone significant changes is KORD/Chicago O'Hare. If you're using FS Dreamteam's KORD, you are hopelessly out of date! FSDT is working on an update that I am sure will be spectacular; .

In the meantime, delete any KORD scenery you have installed and download/install John Manely's updated KORD, which reflects the permanent closure of runway 33 and its conversion into Taxiway SS. There are two versions of the file on AVSIM, one for FSX/P3DV3 ( and one for P3DV4 (

X-Plane drivers, if you have comparable info on KORD sceneries for your sim, please add it in a reply to this post.
