Boeing 737 Max 8 and 9

Post by UAL124 Joel Wolk » March 13th, 2019, 8:51 pm

Just curious... UAL flies B737 Max series. Are we considering ours "grounded" in keeping with real world events?

I have no personal stake as I am quite happy flying the E-jets. But just wondering.

Hope I posted this in the correct forum... I wasn't quite sure exactly where this question fit, exactly.

I don't believe this has come up yet as far as the staff are concerned. We do mimic real world operations, however when it comes to planes, I don't see us having any reason to mimic this event for two reasons:

1) There is no interruption to the service provided by UNITED by the grounding of the MAX planes; all airlines are simply pulling out backup planes to handle the routes.
2) The grounding of the MAX planes is a safety issue that we do not need to mimic as a VA, especially for those who only have that plane in their fleet with the UNITED livery. It would be similar to a radio failure that we do not mimic on VATSIM.

My opinion is this would be similar to mimicking a radio failure in the cockpit and is also something that will not last long once Boeing gets serious and shows the world these aircraft are works of art and it will be hard to find that the unfortunate loss of life was simply human error and not the aircraft.

We eagerly await the findings.....

Folks,

As a VA, let us not worry about MAX.

For X-Plane, the 737 Ultimate will have a cosmetic MAX for 900 from what I understand.
