DCS FA18 Hornet

Post by UAL043 David Cross » February 24th, 2019, 1:51 am

Once a month i put together a mission , an easy mission in most cases just for something a little bit different to do. There are currently 5 of us who fly the Hornet and yes we land on an aircraft carrier. Not an easy task. But anyway, the next mission will likely be on a Saturday afternoon during the latter part of March. It's a password protected server, that i use, . If anyone owns the Hornet and Persion Gulf map and wants to fly with some non experts feel free to reply here and I'll get you the info.

Hi Dave,
That is something totally different as X-Plane 11, is it? A completely different simulator I believe... am I right?
Yes it is. But if you fancy war birds it's the best in the business.

It has nothing to do with Xplane and not realvent to our VA.

But since it's flight simulation it's in my opinion ok to discuss.

The sim is called DCS ( Digital Combat Simulator)
DCS World is the operating system for all the add on planes / Modules. Kind of like XP11 is the system to operate all the payware aircraft.

It's not cheap to jump right in and fly with us. It will cost $130.00 to fly with us. DCS World 2.5 is free however and comes with a free map and a few Airplanes right out of the box. Even a trainer version of the WWII Mustang P-51T is free.
So you could download the Sim and fly for free to see if you like it.
You will be very impressed with the graphics. The water shows white caps and the swell/wake a carrier leaves as it moves along.

You can buy from Steam, but i wouldn't. I would make all downloads and purchases right from their website. Reason is Steam is always a bit behind on released Betas.

Here is the download and info link for DCS World 2.5.
Make sure you system can handle it. But if your running XP with decent fps then you should be good to go. DCS is less taxing on hardware than XP is.

We also fly in VR. You can pick up the Oculus on Ebay for like 100 bucks these days. But no need for that. The game is very pretty.
