Re: New and Changed Airports

VTBS not in default P3D scenery Thanks to UAL426 John Bullock for bringing this to my attention... The Star Alliance Tour spreadsheet has been updated to reflect the changes in Bangkok. Try this 2014 AFCAD from AVSIM: https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fsxscen&DLID=182290 FS9 users could lo...

Re: New and Changed Airports

LTBA closed; LTFM new Istanbul airport Istanbul's LTBA Ataturk has all but ceased operation; only GA, cargo and VIP flights are using it now and it will completely shut down in 2020. The new Istanbul airport is LTFM. Turkish Virtual Airlines (TVA) has freeware scenery available for FSX, P3D v4.3 and...

New and Changed Airports

FS9, FSX and P3D are notorious for having outdated scenery databases (I'm looking at you, O'Hare!). That means you might fly to an airport that has added or closed runways, rendering your charts and FMC useless. And, new airports open and they are not in the sim when you get there. XPlane may be mor...

Re: Tours / Awards

Good point, John.

I generally install freeware updates when i can find them before a flight because I know how out of date the FSX/P3D scenery database can be.

I'll make a note on the spreadsheet and upload the updated version today.

Re: 9/11 Memorial Flight

I don't remember seeing such an event in the three years I've been with the VA. There's nothing on the VATUSA site, as far as events. 9/11/2020 is a Friday evening so we could definitely do something next year, if there's a desire to do so. Some may think it to be more appropriate that no one fly on...

New Award - Dorian Relief

Dorian_Relief.jpg Fly three return relief flights from Washington Dulles (KIAD) to Nassau (MYNN) in a Captain level aircraft. For clarity, that's KIAD-MYNN and MYNN-KIAD three times. This award will be retired at 2359z on October 13, 2019. Each KIAD-MYNN/MYNN-KIAD return flight must be flown consec...

UAL789-KIAH.jpg With the 737, 747, 757, 767 and 777 tours in place, the 787 was nowhere to be found. Until now. Re: Freeware Scenery Avail for New Istanbul Airport - FSX. P3D and XP

This airport doesn't appear in VATSpy, at least the stock one now available nor any of the updates that I've located online. It's pretty easy to add it to VATSpy. Go to your VATSpy folder (C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\VAT-Spy) and make a backup copy of VATSpy.dat. Open VATSpy.dat in a text edit...

Re: Awards Page Redo?

I would love to do that but it appears that our options are limited because of the backend software on which our entire website is based. Abandoning the backend is not an option. I will raise the issue, though, at our next staff meeting.
